L.B: Can you introduce yourself please?
Hideki: My name is Hideki. I have been dancing since I was 14 years old. I have been dancing for 10 years now.I started House dance first. One day, I had a chance to see my sister's friends who were doing house dance. They were dancing front of the building in out side. I didn’t even know many kinds of dance styles. I got shocked when I saw their dance for the first. Their dance was so smooth and looked so cool. When I was a junior high school student, I didn’t really do anything. Therefore, there was no reason to start house dancing.
L.B.: It is increasingly common for a Japanese practice urban dance: the house dance it is well known and appreciated in your
country?
H.: Well, honestly I don’t really have an idea about this question because I am living in New York right now. However, I can definitely say many young
generations who have been started dancing and the government is trying to put dance education program into public school in Japan. Moreover these kids, who have been started learning dance, have
tried to learn many types of dancing. Therefore, I think it is not only house dance is getting popular. The street dance is getting popular in Japan.
L.B.: What do you feel when you dance?
H.: Well, depend on the situation, I feel differently. When I am dancing at club, theater, in the contest or battle, I feel different feeling. I always try and think how I dance who I dance for. In the theater I am trying to dance for audiens. It is not for me. However, in the club, I basically dance for myself. Whatever I want to do it, I just do it and I don’t think any things. That's what I feel when I am dancing.
L.B.: How would you characterize your choreographic creations: What is your inspiration? What are you trying to express and communicate to the public?
H.: When I am inspired, I think I feel free or when I am dancing with different type of dancers. of cause I am inspired by house dancer too. Whoever I feel I am interesting to his
or her dance, I am inspired. Now I don’t really do any thing for public at this moment. However, I am studying about gerontology right now and study dance therapy later. I would
like to be a dance therapist in few years later. When I become a DT (dance therapist),I will definitely help people and corporate public to help community as a DT.
L.B.: What do u think about French's level in house' dance? And other dance?
H.: When I saw some dancers in france, there were many good dancers and I think the level of French dancers are high in general.
L.B.: We saw for the first time at Juste Debout 2009 when you lose in final house dance contest. What prompted you to attend this event?
H.: Well hmm... I was disappointed myself so much when I lose in the final. However, now I am already moved on and I learned so many things from the event. Therefore, I think it was great experience for me.
L.B.: Who is House Dance Project?
H.: Originally the members of The House Dance Project are Byron, who is director of THDP and made THDP, Shannon, Tony Mcgregor, Kentaro, Shuho, and
me. After few years, Suguru became THDP new members.
This is new THDP WEBSITE: http://www.housedancer.com/house-dance-project
L.B.: What are your personal projects and
artistic?
H.: Right now I don’t have any specific personal project.
I like photography and oil painting because I am inspired so much by them.
A big thanx to Hideki for his answers
L.B.: Peux-tu te présenter stp?
Hideki : Je m’appelle Hideki.
